Welcome to another episode of Boost your Visibility. Thanks so much for being here. Today we're going to talk about five hard truths, and I come to you with this podcast because these are common themes that I run into as I'm working with small business owners and social media managers. They're things that I've worked with myself, worked through to get from overwhelm to more productive, ultimately having more time at the end of the day so you can actually have a life. That's my main goal with going through this list of five ways that you might be holding yourself back and five ways that you may be getting in your own way. So, number one when you look at your marketing, your social media you know Instagram, facebook, all of your posts are they Canva creations and announcements? Are they just pictures of what's new in your store? Are they simply pictures of sales and that kind of thing? Because if that's the case, it's not about you. That's the title for this. Number one is it's not about you, it's about your customers and we lose sight of that. The busier we get, the deeper we get into our business. We just need to get messages out there and we lose sight of the fact that Sarah is out there, you know as an amazing customer who happens to love to purchase scarves and rather than just showing a photo, how does that work in Sarah's life? Can she tie it around her neck? Is it something that you know is a cool sleeve, sort of a scarf? Is it a hair tie? Are you showing the features and benefits of your product or service so that people can relate? If your best customer's name is Jeff and you own HVAC company, is Jeff going to respond if you simply put out we do free spring prep for AC, or is it gonna be? Let's take this off your hands, make it like easier. We'll make sure that your air conditioning is ready to go for that first warm day. Do you see how I did that? You just reverse it from. What our instinct is is to just get the message out there of what we offer, but flip it into make it about the customer and make it really relatable. That's where the goal is.

Number two proactive versus reactive. A lot of things that we do in business especially when, a it's really busy and B if numbers are down, we maybe don't have as many leads or feet in the door is to get reactive with our marketing. Throw out a sale, let's do a sale right away. Let's do a whole week of specials rather than slow it down to speed it up, meaning. Let's look at, maybe, where the gaps and cracks are that are preventing people from coming in. Maybe there's a little problem on the website that we didn't see. Is there something that, marketing-wise, that is a trend right now that we should hop onto? Are photos doing better on Facebook than on Instagram? Maybe we need to do more of that, which, by the way, right now, in this moment, photos are doing almost as well as reels on Facebook. On Instagram, it's more carousel posts and reels that are performing the best. It's a little bonus, okay.

Speaker 0:

So number three is and this is a tough one can you lift your head up to see what's actually going on around you in your business, or are you too deep in it? Are you too deep in your business to really just see what needs to be done on a bigger scale? Maybe who you need to have in place that you don't know? You haven't even realized? Are you not taking the time off that you should Although I know it's easier said than done, it's gotta be said if you're not rested and at your best, how can you be at your best for your business and all the people that you impact, whether it's employees or customers or potential customers. People are very smart and they see when someone is, you know, not feeling their best or marketing is kind of sluggish, people pick up on the undertones. Even if you don't show your face or have your voice on any of your marketing, people know it. You create the joy, you create the sparkle. You're the one that brings that into your brand voice and if you're too deep in your business, you can't. So maybe it's time for a day or a weekend off. Maybe it's time to delegate some tasks to someone else just for a few days, so that you can take a breather, just think about it and if there's any way you can do it, I highly recommend it.

Speaker 0:

That leads to number four is having the humility to identify when you're overwhelmed and say it and do something about it, and to learn If you are not at full overwhelm and there are other areas that you need to wear the hat. To learn how to do something. You need to have the humility to face it, to accept that maybe you don't know it all, although as business owners, I know we all I'm guilty of it. We all like to think we know it all. We have the answers. Yep, I know. Yep, I know. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, you don't have to know it all, and it's important. It's actually critical to the survival of your business to identify when you don't know it all and you need to find other resources to bring in or to tap into to be able to do a better job. Whether it's a social media manager, whether it's a graphic designer, maybe it's cleaning, maybe somebody needs to come in once a week and just do a deep cleaning of your space. Maybe it's at home, having groceries delivered, rather than taking those two hours to get in the car, go get your groceries, pick them up, bring them home, put them away. So are there areas that you can find the humility to admit that you need a little help and try to find ways to make that happen.

Speaker 0:

Number five is delegating. Delegating sounds easy if you have, you know, a big business, but to someone like me, it's mostly just me or to a small business, someone that I know has three employees, it's not easy to delegate because everybody's at their capacity of what they can do in a day. That's where a virtual assistant comes in and the best, smartest decision that I ever made was to hire a VA for video editing. Video is where I got stuck the most. I was way deep in trying to do all of my other tasks, do them well and try to learn and do video editing, which, even if you're at the top of your game as a video editor, it takes time, and that's time that took away from me being able to do things like this, where I'm able to reach more people and help more people, which is my North Star, my number one thing that I want to do is to be able to help more people like myself and like you. So delegating is a part of humility and if you think that it's time to delegate, don't hesitate.

Speaker 0:

I wish that I would have hired a VA two years ago and I just felt like you know the money, all that goes with it. Is it going to take a lot of my time to train this person, the person that is editing this video? His name is Jesse and he's amazing and he's so good that he helps me to stay organized and accountable. So there are benefits to having a counterpart or some help in other areas and that takes the overwhelm away and helps you to be much more productive. I hope this was helpful. If you think that it has been, I hope you follow this channel. I hope that you subscribe to the podcast, leave a comment and give a review if you wouldn't mind, and I look forward to talking to you in the next episode of Boost your Visibility.
