I took a few weeks off just to get caught up with busy season and I really appreciate your patience and I appreciate you being here. Today. We're going to talk about personal connection with your customers and how to grow that, because right now, people are feeling very disconnected. They're not responding to Facebook and Instagram posts like they used to. People have become extremely private. I'm going to give you an example that I experienced this past week. It was my daughter's 21st birthday. This past week, I posted a really beautiful picture of her and a super nice post. Most of the people that are on my personal Facebook account are either family or friends in business locally. I'm a very private person and I'm not really big on Facebook anymore. I did have a lot of people comment on the photo, but I also had numerous people private message me about that post. They didn't respond in the comments, they didn't even like the photo, but they sent me beautiful messages in private messenger. People are becoming more private, which is why email is important. They don't really want to see things publicly. They don't want to respond to things publicly. They want to feel a connection to you and maybe start a conversation, and a lot of those messages that I received this week have led to hey, let's reconnect, let's go for coffee next week, other networking things. We are friends on some level All of the people in my area that have known each other for a while I'm going into my 20th year in business but really the point is that they're becoming more private. Everybody's becoming more private.

That is the first example of what personal connection email brings, because it's just in their inbox and they don't feel exposed. They don't feel like that information is going on to everybody, even though they know it is. It feels personal. So another example I want to give you is a business that I have been working with. I had worked with for about a year and a half and I helped them to create an email campaign and we set it all up, and one of the things that I require in order to set up an email campaign is that the email comes from a first name at email. So let's just say that it's Darcy at such and such.

Speaker 1:

Well, this company that I created this email campaign for had it set up with Darcy's as the example person email address and we wrote the email in a really super nice way, very thoughtful about the wording. You know the typical we started with you're probably thinking, feeling or doing right now and this is how we can help and this is how we get there kind of thing and beautiful photos and all of that, and at the bottom it had Darcy's photo and her email signature, and then it also had all of the people from the company's head shop and then the four owners in a bigger photo and their signatures, like a copy of just their first name. So it felt really personal. Well, it wasn't long before someone showed up at the business and when the salesperson greeted them, they said no, I want to talk to Darcy. From the emails, they only wanted to talk to her and they probably would have purchased from her. Except, darcy is a remote employee, she's never in this business and she's not a salesperson, she's a customer service person. So that was a really powerful aha moment that showed that company how important email is and what they might have been missing out on by not doing it sooner.

The next thing that had happened for that company is people started to respond to the emails about little things like oh, there's a dog in that photo. My dog loves to be outside by our. Whatever. I see you're walking your dog. I just got back from walking my dog too. I'm using really basic examples so that I don't reveal the company itself, but it's very common that they're getting responses to their emails now, and that's because of that personal connection that they've created through email.

So if you haven't gotten on the email bus with your business, I really feel strongly that now is the time, and if you don't, it's like you've got a shovel in your hand and no money to scoop. But it's there and once you start using email, you'll be shoveling the money. I really have seen it be that powerful and it takes consistency every two weeks to a month and it takes a certain structure to the email. I'm happy to share that with you. I'm actually going to give you a link to the email structure.
